Origami Paintings
They are some of my most enjoyable projects so far, from the making of the paper origamis to painting and shading... The step by step of the process in a slide show below.
-
Step 1: Making the Origami
Making the paper Origami and taking photo, lighting it to create the desire shadow. Frog design by Toshikazu Kawasaki
-
Step 2: Frames and base
Creating the frames and base, adding a light wash of Potassium Permanganate to enhance the wood grain and draw basic Origami shapes.
-
Step 3: Colouring
Painting, shading and adding tones to the design using acrylic paint and fine brushes.
-
Step 4: Shadow
Painting the drop shadow with black ink to create the 3D effect.
-
Step 5: Frame
Using acrylic black matte paint to coloured the frame.
-
Finished
This is the final result prior to signing and clear coatting of the painting with a light matte clear spray varnish to sealed it and preserve it. Sizes may vary, this one in particular is 25cm square.
