They are some of my most enjoyable projects so far, from the making of the paper origamis to painting and shading... The step by step of the process in a slide show below.
Step 1: Making the OrigamiMaking the paper Origami and taking photo, lighting it to create the desire shadow. Frog design by Toshikazu Kawasaki
Step 2: Frames and baseCreating the frames and base, adding a light wash of Potassium Permanganate to enhance the wood grain and draw basic Origami shapes.
Step 3: ColouringPainting, shading and adding tones to the design using acrylic paint and fine brushes.
Step 4: ShadowPainting the drop shadow with black ink to create the 3D effect.
Step 5: FrameUsing acrylic black matte paint to coloured the frame.
FinishedThis is the final result prior to signing and clear coatting of the painting with a light matte clear spray varnish to sealed it and preserve it. Sizes may vary, this one in particular is 25cm square.
